Liver Liver Liver

We all know that eating lambs/chicken/calves ect... livers can be really nutritious and beneficial for us due to it being rich in Vitamin A (Mainly known for helping us to see at night) And Iron. Amongst other Vitamins and Minerals.

(Note now the small amount of parsley makes it almost look good....)

But recently you'll have also heard the amount of drugs and chemicals fed to the livestock during their life to either enhance the abundance of meat, or to prevent the animal catching a nasty disease.

So the liver has loads of functions, around 500! But the main one that we all know about is clearing the blood of all impurities.
so If we think, the liver effectively cleans the blood. When we ingest chemicals such as antibiotics they will enter the blood stream, thus eventually, some will pass through the liver.
There is some recent debate on whether the livers of livestock that have been reared using antibiotics and other chemicals should be consumed by Humans.

So the main argument is that we are consuming unnecessary chemicals that just aren't formulated for human consumption!

But the scientists and the producers will say the opposite: That they are carefully regulated and are used to benefit ourselves, otherwise our livestock will be smaller; giving us less meat and also to prevent a total wipeout of a heard as infection can be caught so easily! So if they are fed these chemicals, we get our foooooood! and also they argue that these chemicals are completely harmless anyway.

Here is an interesting image from google...

I say, that only time will tell. We are totally unaware of the long term affects.
